It is a colorless gas with weak odor, insoluble in water, but soluble in alcohol and ether solvents, with a boiling point of - 24.7 ℃. It is a low toxic chemical, with anesthetic effect and flammability in high content. It will react violently in case of strong oxidant. Difluoroethane is an important raw material for the production of fluoroethylene and vinylidene fluoride. It can also be used as refrigerant and aircraft propellant. The ODP of HFC-152a is 0, and the GWP is 0.03.
