Octreotide is a kind of synthetic octapeptide ring compound used in digestive system. It is a homologue of natural somatostatin, has the pharmacological activity of natural somatostatin, and has long-term effect (the half-life of this product is 1.5 hours, and the natural somatostatin is 2-3 minutes). This product has selective inhibitory effect on the secretion of growth hormone, glucagon and insulin, which is stronger than natural somatostatin. The animal test shows that the inhibitory effect of this product on the release of growth hormone is 70 times of natural somatostatin and the inhibitory effect on insulin is 3 times of natural somatostatin after 15 minutes of intravenous injection. It can also inhibit the secretion of gastric acid, amylase, lipase and pepsin. It can slow down the passage time of the gastrointestinal tract, promote the absorption of water and electrolyte, have the contractive effect on the visceral blood vessels, reduce the visceral blood flow, reduce the blood flow of the liver, reduce the portal pressure and blood flow of the portal vein, reduce the excessive secretion of the intestinal tract, and enhance the absorption of water and Na + by the intestinal tract.
