Everolimus is a derivative of sirolimus, also known as 40-o - (2-hydroxyethyl) - rapamycin, or 40-o - (2-hydroxyethyl) - sirolimus. It is a kind of kinase drug that interferes with cell communication and prevents tumor cell growth. It is an oral mammalian rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor. In the past, it was mainly used to prevent rejection after kidney transplantation and heart transplantation. At present, it can also be used in the treatment of advanced renal cancer patients who have used two inhibitors of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor kinase: SUTENT (Pfizer) and Nexavar (Bayer), with slight side effects.
