Potassium chromate is a kind of inorganic compound, which is yellow orthorhombic or hexagonal crystal at room temperature. Relative density is 2.732, melting point is 968 °C, toxic. It is easy to dissolve in water. After dissolution, the hydrolysis solution of chromate ion is alkaline and insoluble in alcohol and ether. Add acid to the Yellow potassium chromate solution and the solution turns orange, which is the color of dichromate.
